The textbook has been compiled in accordance with the standard educational program created by a team of authors under the guidance of R. B. Shyian. The first part of the textbook covers the pre-alphabet and alphabet (the larger part) periods. The second part concludes the alphabetic period and fully contains the material for study in the post-alphabetic period. The weekly thematic approach allows for the integration of reading and writing educational material in the 1st grade with the course "I Explore the World." Thus, the use of both textbooks will contribute to the comprehensive development of students' understanding of the world, themselves in it, and so on. The uniqueness of the "Bukvar" is also revealed in the selection of artistic texts (by contemporary Ukrainian authors and classics, foreign writers) that resonate with the interests of modern children. The tasks for the texts are designed in such a way as to develop students' critical and creative thinking, reading literacy, and oral speech as effectively as possible.
Reading instruction is implemented through a differentiated approach, as the "Bukvar" contains material for students who cannot read; for students who are learning to read; for students who can already read. Thus, each group of 1st-grade students will have the opportunity to work at their own level of ability, without stopping at what has been achieved. Listening to the performance of tasks by other students, so to speak, multiple explanations, will contribute to the effective assimilation of new educational material.
